SYNECDOCHE, NEW YORK

I just watched this film last week, and it blew my mind. I'm not sure entirely how it blew it but it did. Philip Seymour Hoffman is always amazing and the ideas swirling around in it make it profound, affecting and unsettling, though, you may not necessarily know how. Even the title is ambiguous. I mean, unless you're a linguist, how the hell are you supposed to know what synecdoche even means?! It's also a hella lot like Tom McCarthy (of Man Booker Prize fame, for C, this year) 's first novel, Remainder, which I have also just read. Shit, is MY LIFE a SYNECDOCHE??
